The story, chapter by chapter

  1. Kinshasa

    Building from Kinshasa

Kinshasa. This is where Gift Bambi Nzuzi designs payment systems and digital platforms that bring people, businesses and services closer together. Software engineer, entrepreneur, mentor. This is his journey. A journey still being written.

  2. 2016

    The foundations

It all starts in 2016. Gift passes his State examination at Collège Frère Emmanuel Stablum. The same year, he becomes an IT consultant for the NGO MADELYSE. He is already writing code, long before his first production releases.

  3. 2018 – 2019

    Learning, then teaching

In 2018, he trains in Cisco IT at the Faculty of Science of the University of Kinshasa, and his first software goes into use. The same year, he founds ECODEV, the School for developers, to train young people in new technologies. In 2019, he builds management apps for schools and pharmacies, studies embedded systems, and becomes an IT consultant for the NGO FONIB.

  4. 2020

    Answering the emergency

2020. The pandemic hits. Gift enters the national Stop Coronavirus DRC challenge, launched in March, proposing digital systems to support the response. He works with the organisation GOCD, then becomes deputy IT lead at CIGA SARL.

  5. 2021

    On stage

2021 is a year on stage. On 27 March, the Mathematics and Computer Science Forum, whose IT unit he coordinates, launches the first Challenge L’CODE, a programming contest for women students. At the 14th Journées Informatiques of the University of Kinshasa, his project HORUS, a foreigner identification system for the Directorate General of Migration, is one of the five Tech Challenge finalists.

  6. 2021

    Becoming an entrepreneur

That same year, as head of DGLife, he and Kongo Technologies propose a digital platform for market gardeners in Mbanza-Ngungu. The project is presented on radio on 2 June, and Congo Hebdo covers it the next day. He also joins OCULIS International, and designs a complete website mock-up for REGIDESO: the first step towards what will become MASA.

  7. 2022

    SimplyPaye

2022 is a turning point. Gift creates SimplyPaye, a payment ecosystem for merchants: Orange Money, Airtel Money, M-Pesa, Visa cards, payment links, QR codes and APIs. Today, more than fifty merchants use it. For the Kinshasa provincial government, he designs e-Mpako, to pay taxes and bills online. And for Kongo Central, TaxTak, a system for collecting the motorcycle tax.

  8. 2022 – 2023

    The engineer

At the University of Kinshasa, he studies computer engineering. His thesis covers building a payment gateway for academic fees, supervised by Professor Kafunda Katalay Pierre. Meanwhile, at the Compagnie Congolaise des Loisirs, he works on the first version of the Sababalar lottery with the Indian company Skilrock. The game launches in December 2023.

  9. 2023

    Teaching, again

In 2023, he coordinates the ICT unit of the 16th Journées Informatiques. With DigiLife, he proposes MASA to REGIDESO: a prepaid water system with a smart meter and an AI-based assistant.

  10. 2024

    Building for others

In 2024, he becomes lead developer of Bet Mosolo. Over the years, his apps also serve clients in the DRC, Mozambique and North America: Walta Services, KIN Shopping, AKILI Solid, Hoza and many more.

  11. 2025

    A public voice

In 2025, RTNC invites him to decode deepfakes. On 6 August, on Congolais Téléma, after a falsified video attributed to the Prime Minister went viral. Then on Dominicalement Votre, where he explains what artificial intelligence changes.

  12. 2026

    WhatsPay and the App Store

2026. Several of his apps are live on the App Store, including SimplyPaye, NIOSO, VisaWise and Tokende. WhatsPay, which he co-created, now lets StarTimes subscribers in the DRC renew straight from WhatsApp. Co-founder of Business Innovation Group and OMNIA, CTO of DigiLife, he keeps building.
